Peace be with me
I wrote this a few months ago but today felt like a good day for a reminder:
‘Peace be with me as I journey back to life.
Peace be with me as I wake,
and in the blink where night meets day,
I remember who I am and where I am.
Peace be with me as I leave my tomb,
walking out my resurrection:
writing out my own Monday Miracle Story
step by step.
Peace be with me as I learn
That coming back to life is a labyrinth
Not linear.
Peace be with me as I learn to be myself
In every room of my own life,
And every realm of my own soul.
Peace be with me
as the road named ‘Suffering’
gives way to one named ‘Joy’.
Peace be with me when the days are long
and the nights longer.
when all I crave is rest
but the gradient of my future rises steeply
on my near horizon.
Peace be with me as Unlived lives
taunt my present and request my sadness;
in my regret,
my longing,
my yearning
and my healing.
Peace be with me as I finally
see my chaos externalised;
walking away,
looking back,
with new eyes and new perspectives.
