Yardstick

I am too loud for some,

Too silent for others;

Too big for some,

Too small for others;

Too Christian

And not Christian enough;

Too feminist and not;

Too angry yet passive;

Too emotional,

Brave-facing,

Rich and poor,

Old and young.

To others, I am a yardstick

They measure me by

Too much and yet

Too little

Depending on what they need me to be

In order to yardstick themselves.
